Law roundup: First Amendment trumps woman’s shock

A woman was appalled that a vehicle was allowed to drive around with a flag that read, “(Expletive) Biden” on it. The dispatcher reminded her about the existence of the First Amendment, but she still wanted to speak to an officer, “preferably one who has been on the force for some time.”

A stench was reportedly coming behind a man’s property that smelled like something was dead and rotting and he wanted the Kalispell Police Department to check it out. Officers went to the location, which was adjacent to a home, and noticed topsoil and mulch in the area the foul odor was detected but saw nothing suspicious or concerning.

A man donning a bright pink wig and dressed in all black allegedly approached a woman at an ATM at night and chased after her.

A man and woman were allegedly “throwing down” in an apartment “known for meth,” according to someone who wanted peace and quiet. Officers made contact with the pair and the man reportedly had a criminal history. The jail was notified about the incident.

Someone thought a drug deal was going down when a woman allegedly went up to a man in a beat-up RV and handed him a little bag. The person also believed the man was trying to approach their 12-year-old daughter when he pulled up toward her.

Someone allegedly heard a woman beating her husband and kids screaming. The person thought the pair may have been drinking. Child Protective Services was contacted and a relative was called to take the children.

A man’s ex reportedly used a key fob to get into his vehicle and steal $2,000 in cash.

A man’s wife reportedly threatened to burn the house down because he wouldn’t agree to sell it and said she had mental health issues. Officers contacted the woman who said she had no intention of burning the house down; she just wanted to persuade him to sell it to move on to a place where she could be alone and have people to talk to.

Two teens allegedly passed out on the pavement of a parking lot were moved along.

Three to four transients were reportedly hanging out in a park surrounded by litter. A woman received a citation for having an open container and was released. Officers also had the group clean up their trash.

A man called officers to report that another man was harassing him. When the caller was asked what the individual had done he said he yelled at him from his apartment. Officers started explaining how that didn’t reach a level to be considered harassment when the caller abruptly hung up.
