Glen E. Moore, 89, passed away on Nov. 26, 2022 in Helena.

He was born in Great Falls to John Earl and Cora (Stannard) Moore on Nov. 23, 1933.

Glen was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Flathead County High School in Kalispell in 1951 where he excelled in sports. He was a member of the football and basketball state championship teams of 1950-1951. He received a football scholarship to the University of Montana but joined the Navy after one year. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to Missoula to finish college and graduated with a degree in business management.

On April 22, 1952, Glen married the love of his life, Ila Mae Butler, in Kalispell. They raised their four children, Rod, Rick, Kathy, and Kris in Kalispell and Helena. After a long career with the Federal Housing Administration, he started his own business as a home appraiser until his retirement in 1990. He worked for HUD during the Urban Renewal Program of the 1970s that oversaw the rejuvenation of downtown Helena.

Glen and Ila loved spending summers on Flathead Lake where they had their own “little utopia.” During retirement, they would ‘snowbird’ to Yuma, Arizona, where they met many life-long friends square dancing and playing golf.

Glen was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ila Mae in 2005, and his son Rod in July. His parents and siblings also predeceased him.

He is survived by his son Rick (Kathryn), daughters Kathy (Scott), and Kris (Bob), along with 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell on Dec. 10, with a celebration of life next summer at Flathead Lake.
