Rebecca Delray Francis Major, 68

| December 6, 2022 12:00 AM

Rebecca Delray Francis Major left this world on Dec. 1, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Rebecca was born Aug. 26, 1954 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado to Jennie and Osborne Francis. As an infant, the family moved to the Flathead Valley. Rebecca grew up and attended school in Evergreen.

In 1969, Becky married Wintzel Major of Kalispell. They remained in the valley for the next 53 years, where they raised their two children, Lisa and Jacob.

Becky loved animals of all kinds, she was quite the horse woman in her younger years. Becky especially loved spending time with her family, visiting and studying endlessly about their lineage.

In 2003, she became a grandma to Angelinda and shortly after Francisco arrived. She adored time with them camping, taking them to the county fair, and especially the holidays.

She was adventurous, often taking road trips and camping. She was especially fond of fishing and she spent many falls snagging salmon.

She was a collector of antiques and vintage wares and you would often find her at the local auctions and she never passed up a garage sale.

Becky was a creative and artistic soul. Her talents led her to become a professional sculptor, creating one of a kind polymer clay dolls. This career took her on many travels across the country where she sold her creations at world renowned doll-art shows.

Becky was tough as nails. She could chop wood, gut her own fish, she worked for the forest service in her younger years burning brush, and she was even able to beat cancer.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents Jennie and Osborne Francis, her sister Virginia, and her beloved son Jacob.

She is survived by her husband Wintzel; daughter Lisa; grandchildren Angelinda and Francisco; her siblings Myrna, Mavis, Mary, Molly, Sue, John, James, Robert, and Lori; and her many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, Dec. 12 starting at 11 a.m. at the Birch Grove Community Center with a luncheon to follow. 594 Birch Grove Road.
