Tickets on sale for Rain

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 22 for Rain — a tribute to the Beatles. In addition to paying tribute to the album Abbey Road, the band will perform classic favorites from the Fab Four’s famous rooftop concert of Jan. 30, 1969. The concert is set for July 31, 2023 at the Wachholz College Center on the Flathead Valley Community College campus.

The performance takes concert goers back in time with the legendary foursome and has been called “the next best thing to seeing The Beatles.” In addition to playing a tribute to the album Abbey Road and the rooftop concert, the performance will include updated sets with state of the art LED, high-definition screens and multimedia content.

Together longer than the Beatles, Rain has mastered every song, gesture, and nuance of the legendary foursome, delivering a totally live performance that’s as infectious as it is transporting.

Last chance for two Hockaday exhibitions

The Hockaday Museum of Art is closing two exhibits this week.

Featuring critically acclaimed artists and alumni from western Canada and the United States inspired by Montana's Glacier National Park, the exhibition A Timeless Legacy: Artists Of Glacier, Past And Present closes on Dec. 23. The show features iconic Glacier artworks from the Hockaday collection; historic art photos, and artifacts from the Glacier National Park Archives; and new and loaned work from contemporary Glacier Park and ATL alumni artists.

Also at the Hockaday, the exhibition James Weikert: Story of a Place closes on Dec. 23.

James Weikert, selected artist from the Artist Wilderness Connection Residency Program, exhibits new works created and inspired by his transformative experience in the Bob Marshall Wilderness complex last summer. His work explores the unique geology, diverse plant life, and human effects on the land he encountered. The exhibition features a series of new oil paintings, sketches, and excerpts from the journal that Weikert kept during his time in the wilderness. Drawing on techniques learned from studying architecture, he created a unique painting style that blended elements of illustration, painting, and technical drafting.

‘Gateway To Glacier’ now on view

This inaugural exhibition in the new Wanda Hollensteiner Art Gallery, Wachholz College Center at Flathead Valley Community College, celebrates the Hockaday Museum of Art’s dedication to promoting and supporting arts and culture in the Flathead Valley for over five decades. “Gateway to Glacier” is a curated selection of art from Hockaday's permanent collection arranged in a visual narrative highlighting the museum’s extensive exhibition history.

Notable artists featured include: Rudy Autio, Charles Davis, Jeanne Hamilton, Neil Parsons, Kevin Red Star, Karen Leigh, Mark Ogle, Echo Ukrainetz and others.

Gallery hours vary, and the gallery is open one hour prior to performances in the Wachholz center. Also open to the public for partial viewing throughout the week. The exhibition runs through Jan. 31, 2023. For more information, visit www.wachholzcollegecenter.org.
