Glacier speech and debate coaches up for ‘coach of the year’
Three Glacier High School assistant coaches are finalists for Class AA “coach of the year” accolades for speech and debate.
Finalists for the Steve Reardon Speech Coach of the Year include Kerrie More and Sara Menssen. Josh Munro is a finalist for the Anne Sullivan Debate Coach of the Year.
The coaches were nominated by their peers at the Class AA state tournament in Helena. Coaches with the most votes were named finalists. Winners will be announced at the Montana Forensic Educators Association and Montana High School Associations Coaches Conference in March.
More coaches Informative Speaking and Original Oratory. This season, she coached Informative Speaking state champion Lane McKoy and Original Oratory state runner-up Mac Adkins. Menssen, who won the award in 2020, coaches Memorized Public Address and Duo Interpretation. This season she coached the Memorized Public Address state champion and runner-up Alexa Wilton and Avram Bingham. Munro, who coaches Policy Debate, coached state champions Alexandra Houseworth and Mason Fauth and “has been a leader for his peers in the Tabroom [a tournament management system], especially with organizing and running the debate side of tournaments,” said Glacier Head Coach Greg Adkins.
“Kerrie, Sara, and Josh are all worthy of this recognition. I truly believe we have the best coaching staff in the country…” Adkins said
Other finalists up for speech coach of the year include: Kristy Bixler of Sentinel High School, Lynn Holsinger of Gallatin High School and JW McClintic of Capital High School.
Other finalists up for debate coach of the year are: Morgan Coffin of Gallatin High School, Steve Macartney of Billings West High School and Kelli Rosenquist of Sentinel High School.
