Wildcats edge Coyotes 56-54

COLUMBIA FALLS — Jace Hill scored 19 points, nine during a wild fourth-quarter comeback, and Columbia Falls edged Shelby 56-54 Friday for a non-conference win.

The Class B Coyotes had 20 points from 6-foot-9 Montana Grizzlies signee Rhett Reynolds, and his defense helped the visitors to forge a 45-30 lead after three quarters.

In the fourth the Northwest A Wildcats used pressure defense and five 3-pointers — two each from Mark Robsion and Alihn Anderson and one from Cade Morgan — to surge in front. Columbia Falls then survived a missed three and put-back attempt by Shelby in the final five seconds.

Trenton Emerson added 14 points for Shelby, which was 11 of 20 at the line. Morgan, Robison and Anderson all had eight points for the Wildcats (8-6), who shot just seven free throws and made five.

WHITEFISH — Tayron Burdeau scored 14 points and Tommy Running Rabbit scored 11 of his 13 during a big third-quarter surge as Browning beat Northwest A foe Whitefish.

Braids Vielle added 11 points for Browning (11-3 overall, 6-2 in league), which padded a 30-26 halftime lead out to 55-35 with a 25-point third quarter.

Talon Holmquist and Bodie Smith each scored 14 points for Whitefish (6-8, 1-7 in league).

All 12 players scored for the Vikings (8-7 overall, 7-1 in league), who led 39-4 at half.

Trevor Grant’s four points led Troy (3-10 overall, 2-7 in the 7-B).
