Home inside Glacier Park listed for sale at $7 million

Another home in Glacier National Park’s Apgar Village is for sale. The Apgar House is listed for $7 million, according to Glacier Sotheby’s broker Tracy Rossi.

The home on McDonald Creek Lane was built in 1976 and has five bedrooms and three full baths. It was primarily used as a vacation rental.

It is immediately to the east of another small home that recently sold for $1.5 million.

Apgar Village has a cluster of properties that are privately owned parcels from a subdivision that pre-dates the creation of Glacier National Park in 1910.

This property has no zoning and there’s even some room for expansion on its .13 acre lot, Rossi noted.

The house has no appreciable views, however. It’s in a wooded area next to another building that is used for employee housing for employees working at Eddie’s Cafe.

Pursuit owns cabins to the north of the Apgar House.

Still, the property is unique in that it’s inside the park and within easy walking distance of Lake McDonald.

There used to be hundreds of privately-held parcels in Glacier. Today, there are about 113 homes and parcels, commonly called inholdings.

Many of them are on Lake McDonald. There are also a few in Big Prairie up the North Fork and at least one in the backcountry near Glacier Rim, which is accessible only by trail.

The Cummings Ranch up the North Fork is another inholding in the backcountry behind a gate on a Bench above Quartz Creek on the trail to Lower Quartz Lake.
