Teen accused of throwing woman through wall
A Columbia Falls teenager was taken into custody last week after allegedly throwing a family member into a wall so hard that it put a hole in the dry wall.
Thomas James Phelps, 18, was booked into the Flathead County Detention Center on Feb. 2. He is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault.
According to charging documents, Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Feb. 2 responded to a report of a physical altercation at a home on Golf Course Drive in Columbia Falls.
Phelps — 250 pounds and 6 feet, five inches tall — allegedly told deputies that he had been arguing with a 62-year-old family member and threw her into a wall.
Deputies noted a hole in the living room wall that was about the size of a human head.
According to documents, the victim lost consciousness for three to five minutes and was later taken to the hospital.
If convicted, Phelps faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $50,000.
