WTC holds auditions for two roles in ‘Sense and Sensibility’
The Whitefish Theatre Company is holding auditions for two roles in its upcoming production of “Sense and Sensibility” Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Arrive early to fill out an audition application, waiver form, and review the script. Enter at the north side of the building.
As “Sense and Sensibility” had begun rehearsals in 2020 prior to the theatre shutting down due to Covid-19, most roles had already been cast. Upcoming auditions are only for two roles in the play, including one woman playing Lucy and one man playing John Dashwood. Actors auditioning for Lucy should be ages 25 to 45, while actors auditioning for John Dashwood should be ages 35 to 65. Pages from the script will be provided at the audition. If you would like to familiarize yourself with the script, it is available at the theater and valley public libraries.
A smash hit when it premiered in 2014, this exuberant adaptation of “Sense and Sensibility” brings a comic, theatrical flair to Jane Austen's perennial favorite. The Dashwood sisters — prudent Elinore and impulsive Marianne — find their world turned upside down after their father's death, which robs them of their wealth, social standing and, most importantly, chances for marriage. Mix in a few dashing love interests and gossipy socialites, and the sisters must learn to mix “sense with sensibility” — their opposite temperaments — to find true happiness.
Nancy Nei is the director for this production. Rehearsals begin the week of Feb. 21 and will be held Monday through Friday from 6 to 9/10 p.m. There are seven performances over two weekends, May 7 to 10 and May 14 to 16.
