Eureka, T-Falls boys move on easily at tourney

BIGFORK — Eureka and Thompson Falls boys built substantial halftime leads in the first round of the Western 7-B District tournament Thursday at Bigfork High School.

Eureka topped Plains 73-26 in its first round game and will play again today at 7 p.m. in a semifinal game against No. 2 seed Mission.

Likewise for Thompson Falls, who dispatched Troy 64-24. The Blue Hawks play today at 5:15 p.m. in a semifinal game against tournament host Bigfork.

Eureka 73, Plains 26

Gavin Bates poured in 19 points for the Eureka Lions in a win over the Plains Horsemen.

Danny Dunn added 17 points for Lions, who led 43-13 at the half. Bates also was 2-for-2 at the free throw line.

Parker Bates’ six points came from two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.

For Plains, Jayden Wecks scored 14 points, which included four 3-pointers and two free-throws.

Thompson Falls built a big lead and didn’t let off the gas in a first round win over the Troy Trojans.

Nathan Schraeder led the Blue Hawks with 16 points and Braxton Dorscha added 11.

For Troy, Paxton Fisher scored nine.
