A Republican challenger has filed in the race for Flathead County Commissioner.

Jack Fallon, who currently serves as vice chair of the Kalispell School District board, has filed to run for the position. Current commissioner Republican Pam Holmquist last month filed for re-election for District 2, which encompases the central part of the county.

Fallon serves on the Evergreen Fire Rescue board and is the president of the Evergreen Water and Sewer District board.

County Treasurer Republican Adele Krantz also recently filed for re-election.

Other county incumbents who have filed for re-election are County Attorney Travis Ahner, Sheriff Brian Heino, Clerk and Recorder Republican Debbie Pierson. All are Republicans.

Cal Ketchum also filed as a Republican for the County Superintendent of Schools position. As of Tuesday afternoon, Republican Jack Eggensperger, who currently serves in the position, has not yet filed.

In non-partisan races, Eric Hummel has filed for the Justice of the Peace Department 1 position and Paul Sullivan has filed for the Justice of Peace Department 2 position. Both are incumbents.

The deadline to file is March 14.
