Big Sky girls edge Glacier
A slow second quarter and foul trouble sunk the Glacier girls Friday night, in a 43-37 home loss to Missoula Big Sky.
The Eagles (6-12 overall, 4-10 in the Western AA) rode 15 points from Kadynce Couture to the victory: She had five points in a 13-2 second-quarter blitz that put the Eagles up 18-12 at half.
Glacier (5-12, 2-11 in league) climbed back in front, 21-20, on a single Reese Ramey free throw midway through the third quarter.
Audrey Hale answered to put Big Sky back in front 22-21, and the Eagles didn’t trail again. A Sadie McGuinn three pushed the gap to 29-23, and Couture’s coast-to-coast drive put the Eagles up 33-25 early in the fourth quarter.
The Wolfpack hung in, cutting the gap to 38-37 on a Noah Fincher drive, but Hale hit one free throw and Couture hit two in the final 41 seconds to put the game away.
Fincher had 12 points to lead the Wolfpack, before fouling out along with teammates Kiera Sullivan and Sidney Gulick. Glacier concludes its regular season Saturday at Missoula Hellgate.
