William "Bill” Stanley Hart

| January 5, 2022 12:00 AM

William “Bill” Stanley Hart passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2021, with his oldest son Randy at his side; Pop was 87 years old.

Dad was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta (“Eh”). When he was younger, he loved to play hockey and he always followed the Flames. He moved to central Illinois with his family as a teen.

Dad met Mom, (Myrtle Jones) in 1955 and they were married on Jan. 20, 1956. They moved to Columbia Falls in 1959 where they lived most of their lives working and raising their family. Dad worked at Plum Creek for 42-plus years.

Dad loved to camp and fish; Echo Lake was his favorite spot. Pop was an incredible craftsman; a master at tying flies and he could build virtually anything out of wood! After retirement, Dad and Mom spent several years along the Oregon coastline. When they were home, dad was always in his shop teaching his grandchildren how to create and build.

Dad was preceded in death by his wife Myrt, daughter Cheryl, parents, Clyde and Sarah; brother, Richard, and sister Barbara.

Dad is survived by his sister, Colleen Sokol and her husband Dave; and his sons and their wives, Randy and Tami, Clyde and Diane, and Todd and Gayle. Dad was crazy about his grandchildren, Shawn, Audrey, Gibby, Carrie, Brittney, Sarah, Jessica, Olivia, Tyler and Cameron; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held later in the summer of 2022 when more family members can attend. Both Dad and Mom will be interned at Woodland Cemetery in Columbia Falls.

Friends are encouraged to visit the website www.buffalohillfh.com to leave notes of condolence for the family. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
