Sentinel girls trip Pack in back-and-forth battle

MISSOULA — Brooke Stayner and Emily McElmurry scored 14 points each, and McElmurry basket gave Missoula Sentinel the lead for good as the Spartans edged Glacier 53-49 in Western AA girls’ basketball action Friday.

McElmurry’s basket off a steal created by Stayner and Olivia Huntsinger, putting the Spartans (3-2 overall, 1-0 in league) up 45-44 early in the fourth quarter, the last of many lead changes in the game.

Huntsinger added 10 for Sentinel, which trailed Glacier (3-2, 0-1) 34-27 midway through the third quarter.

Bethany Sorenson scored a game-high 17 points for the Wolfpack, who play at Butte today. She hit four 3-pointers.
