Mission girls hand Valkyries first setback

ST. IGNATIUS — Kason Page scored 19 points, Kooper Page added 17 and the Mission Bulldogs knocked off previously unbeaten Bigfork 52-44 in a District 7-B girls basketball battle Saturday.

The Bulldogs (4-5 overall, 3-3 in league) tickled the twine for 10 3-pointers.

The Valkyries (11-1, 6-1 in the 7-B) were led by Braeden Gunlock’s 12 points. Maddison Chappius and Scout Nadeau each had seven. Bigfork played with Emma Berreth, who suffered a concussion last week against Florence.

The Vals next play Class A Columbia Falls Wildkats Tuesday night in Bigfork.

POLSON — Jazlyn Dalbey scored 13 points, including four 3-pointers, as Polson scored a Northwest A victory.

Dalbey hit three from beyond the arc in the second quarter to help Polson (5-7 overall, 3-3 in league) open up a 23-15 lead. The Lady Pirates got five points from Arianna Burke in the third quarter as the gap grew to 40-20.

Kinzee Boehmier scored a game-high 14 points for the Loggers (1-9, 0-5).

RONAN — Mecca Bullchild scored 15 points and Browning held Ronan to 10 second-half points for an impressive bounce-back win in the Northwest A.

Olivia Heiner’s nine points led the Maidens, who fell to 7-4 overall and 4-3 in league games. Dani Coffman added eight, all in the first half.

Amari Calfrobe added 10 points for Browning (7-2, 4-1 in league), which was coming off its first league loss at Columbia Falls Thursday.
