Vikings fifth at Ted Kato Invite

THOMPSON FALLS — Bigfork had two first place wrestlers and Whitefish had one at the Ted Kato Invitational held Saturday.

Traic Fainter won at 103 pounds in a 9-6 decision over Polson’s Ryley Knutson. At 160, Vaughn Pendlay won a 7-5 decision over Sandpoint’s Christian Troumbley-Karkoski.

Whitefish’s Landree Aurund defeated Priest River’s Collin Magers in a technical fall in the 120 pound final.

Trae Thilmony of Thompson Falls pinned Priest River's Charles Bennett to top the podium at 145 pounds.

Bigfork’s Ryder Nollan ended up second at 138 pounds, and Ian Wolfe (152) and Jason Merringer (113) were second in their classes.

Logan Heyne of Whitefish was second at 132, and Carter Moran (138) was fourth.

Sandpoint, Idaho won the team title with 162 points, just edging out second-place Priest River (ID) by one point. Superior and Fairfield were third and fourth, and Bigfork snuck into fifth with 100.5 points. Whitefish and Polson were ninth and 10th.
