Class A: Columbia Falls Speech and Debate takes second at state
The Columbia Falls High School Speech and Debate team capped a competitive season as the Class A state runner-up in Corvallis over the weekend.
Frenchtown won the title as state champion with 188 total points. Columbia Falls earned 153 points for second place. Laurel finished third with 150 points. Whitefish High School Speech and Debate placed fourth with 89 points.
Columbia Falls had three individual state champions including Griffin Conger, in Dramatic Interpretation and Aiden Rohn and Brayden Crawford in Public Forum Debate.
Emma Trieweiler was Whitefish’s individual state champion in Humorous Interpretation.
“I’m so very proud of this team. Not only did they compete well and experience some personal highs, but they also dealt with adversity and challenging situations with grace and sportsmanship,” Whitefish head coach Sara Mueller said.
