Twins down N. Idaho 12-5 at Sapa-Johnsrud

WHITEFISH — Mason Peters had two hits and scored three times, and the Glacier Twins took advantage of some wild North Idaho pitching to outscore the Lakers 12-5 at the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Legion tournament Friday.

A trio of Lakers pitchers issued a total of eight walks; Stevyn Andrachick, Petra, Mikey Glass and Hayden Meehan all had two hits.

Andrachick’s RBI double and a two-run single by Glass were the key hits in the Twins’ third-inning outburst that pushed their lead from 5-4 to 12-5.

The Twins (26-7) are 2-0 at their annual tournament, and played the late game Saturday.

The tournament championship is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. today at Memorial Field.

Kyle Bridge doubled and drove in four runs as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen topped Libby 9-1 at the Sapa-Johnsrud tournament Friday, snapping the Loggers’ six-game winning streak.

The Loggers got an RBI single from Aydan Williamson in the top of the first inning, but the Lums rapped out eight hits and drew seven walks in five innings to end the game early.

Caden Wiliams and Tripp Zhang double for the Loggers (13-21).

Lums pitcher Jayden Butler allowed just three hits and two walks. He fanned five.

A six-run sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Hayden Meehan and a two-run double by Jake McIntyre, put this game away Thursday.

The Twins had trailed 2-1 before loading the bases in the fourth inning and scoring via Owen Shilling’s groundout and two wild pitches.

McIntyre went 4 2-3 innings, allowing three hits and two walks. He struck out eight. Mason Peters finished up, getting all four of his outs via strikeout.
