Pioneer League: Riders top Mustangs, snap skid

Ben McConnell homered to lead off the game, Brody Wofford followed with a two-run shot and the Glacier Range Riders snapped their six-game losing skid Monday, beating Billings 7-1 at Flathead Field.

Wofford added a sacrifice fly in the second inning as the Range Riders (14-27) scored all its runs by the third inning, then rode excellent pitching from Rob Hamby (2-1) and reliever Tanner Solomon to the Pioneer League win.

Hamby allowed six hits and two walks in seven innings, fanning nine. Solomon issued one walk and struck out three over the final two frames.

McConnell had two hits and scored twice; the leadoff homer was his third this season.

Wofford pushed his team-leading home run total to seven, putting Glacier up 3-0.

Brandt Broussard had a pair of hits, driving in one and scoring once.

Jackson Raper hit a solo homer in the second for the Mustangs (22-18), his seventh.

The teams continue their 7-game series today at 7:05 p.m., at Flathead Field.
