Marland “Fud” Walden, 92

Marland “Fud” Walden, 92, of Columbia Falls, passed away at Logan Health Whitefish on July 4, 2022.

Marland was born on Sept. 22, 1929, to Will Lee Walden and Lenora Dell Walden (Milligan) in Ada, Oklahoma. In 1947 he joined the United States Army and in 1953 he was honorably discharged. He then moved to Montana and met and married Carol Collins.

He worked as an ironworker and welder for most of his life. He and his family also had a dairy farm and had a passion for beef cows, along with farming. Family and friends enjoyed Fud’s storytelling about his life growing up.

Marland and his wife of 68 years, Carol, had two sons and three daughters, Dennis, Bill, Joyce, Peggy and Heidi.

Marland was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Joyce Way, son Bill Walden, grandson Jason Kiser, and several of his siblings.

He is survived by his wife Carol, son Dennis Walden (Cindy), daughters Peggy Beck (Mark) and Heidi Walden; five grandchildren, Kjersti, Tyler, Brittany, Nicole and Michelle; and several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on July 16 at the Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life gathering immediately following funeral services at 363 Bralig Road, Columbia Falls — Beck residence.
