Pioneer League: 2-out rally lifts Chukars over Range Riders

Idaho Falls used a two-out rally to score four runs in the seventh inning, breaking open a close game that the Chukars won 7-3 over the Glacier Range Riders Saturday, at Flathead Field.

Trailing 2-1, the Range Riders were sitting OK after third baseman Dean Miller threw out the Chukars’ Thomas DeBonvill has he tried to score on Steve Barmakian’s grounder. That left Barmakian at first and two out, but then the next five batters hit singles, with Tyler Kelly’s base hit capping the surge and putting his team up 6-1.

Glacier loaded the bases with nobody out in its half of the seventh, but managed just two runs on Ben McConnell’s sacrifice fly and a misplayed grounder.

Kevin Kyle was a tough-luck loser for the Range Riders, throwing six strong innings. He allowed five hits, two walks and two runs while striking out seven.

Idaho Falls improved to 4-1 this half of the Pioneer League season, while the Range Riders fell to 1-4 with their third straight loss. Miller had two hits and his team-leading 46th RBI. Ryan Cash had two hits and is hitting .358 for Glacier.

The teams complete a three-game set at Flathead Field today at 3:05 p.m.
