John Charles Goodrich, 86

John Charles Goodrich died July 14, 2022, at home in Kalispell.

John was born on Sept. 16, 1935, in Dayton, Washington. In 1955, John married Shirley Hasselman; they had two children, Mike and Julie.

John taught music for 25 years and retired to become a professional musician. He played for 35 years with Seattle's Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band, as well as many other groups. John moved to Montana in 2001 and married Karla West in 2007. He contributed significantly to Flathead Valley's music community.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Curtis, Shirley Goodrich, and is survived by his wife Karla West, Mike Goodrich, Julie Taylor, stepdaughters Kelly West Haverlandt, Kimberly Durham, Erica Schatte, Jill Lautaret, 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life is planned for Sept. 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Snappy Sport Senter, in Kalispell.
