BELGRADE — The Glacier Twins had another late-inning rally Thursday, but couldn’t hold onto their own lead in a 9-5, 10-inning loss to Belgrade at the State A Legion baseball tournament.

The host Bandits (39-18) moved into Friday’s winner’s bracket semifinal against the Butte Miners. That game will be at 7 p.m. at Medina Field.

To get there Belgrade had to weather a comeback by the Twins (34-11), who next play the Havre Northstars in a loser out game at 4 p.m.

Hayden Meehan hit an RBI single in the sixth inning to put the Twins, who had trailed 4-1, up 5-4. Then the Bandits pushed across a tying run in the seventh thanks in part to a pair of Glacier errors.

In their half of the seventh, the Twins loaded the bases with nobody out but failed to score: Stevyn Andrachick’s grounder turned into a force out at home; Mikey Glass fanned and Meehan flew out to leave the score 5-5.

Glacier’s rally started in the fourth: Mason Peters doubled in a run and Andrachick tripled in Peters to cut the gap to 4-3. In the sixth Peters singled to lead off, moved to third on a couple wild pitches and scored on a sacrifice fly by Glass. Meehan’s single brought in Andrachick, who had walked, for the Twins’ first lead.

Aiden Kulbeck’s two-run single broke the deadlock in the 10th, and the Bandits tacked on two more runs.

Peters pitched into the seventh inning, allowing five hits, a walk and two earned runs. He struck out eight.

In Thursday’s morning action, Havre eliminated the Bitterroot Red Sox, 5-4.
