BOZEMAN — Max Holden threw a five-inning one-hitter, and the Kalispell AA Lakers sent 13 hitters to the plate in that fifth inning to down the Bozeman Bucks 13-0 in the first game of a Legion baseball doubleheader.

Getting a home run and five RBIs from Max Matteucci, Bozeman won the nightcap 7-5 to salvage a split.

Michael Owens’ two-run double capped the Lakers’ nine-run outburst in the final inning. Holden, who hit one batter, walked one and struck out five, retired the Bucks in order to end the game under the mercy rule. Holden threw just 61 pitches.

Ostyn Brennan and Gage Brink each scored three times for the Lakers (18-8), who combined seven hits with eight walks issued by Bozeman pitchers.

In the second game, Matteucci hit a three-run homer in the first inning and a two run double in the fourth as the Bucks took a 7-1 lead.

Nic Gustafson’s two-run single in the fifth inning and an Oscar Kallis RBI double and Grady Drish single closed the gap to 7-5, but River Smith retired the next two hitters to end it.

The teams have another doubleheader today beginning at 11 a.m.
