BOZEMAN — James Moody went 4-for-4 with a double, stole home for the first of his three runs and drove in three runs as the Kalispell Lakers beat Bozeman 19-9 to earn a split of their AA Legion doubleheader Sunday.

Moody singled and scored in the Lakers’ seven-run third inning and — after Bozeman closed to 10-9 — doubled to lead off a nine-run fifth. He later hit an RBI single and scored for the second time in the frame.

Reliever Asher Baines then pitched a scoreless fifth to end the game under the mercy rule.

Haiden Bunyea hit two-run singles in the first and fifth innings for Kalispell (19-9). The top three hitters in the lineup — Kostya Hoffman, Ostyn Brennan and Gage Brink — each scored three runs.

In the opener Bozeman took advantage of five Kalispell errors to score a 5-4 win, despite Lakers pitcher Oscar Kallis allowing just three hits.

Dillon Farne’s RBI single in Bozeman’s half of the sixth inning to make it 5-2 was important, as the Lakers opened the seventh with a walk and three straight singles. Max Holden’s base hit brought home Ostyn Brennan; a double play grounder scored the fourth run, before a flyout ended the game.

Kallis walked two and struck out one in six innings. Just one Bozeman run was earned.
