Janett Musgrove, 68, and PC Musgrove, 75

Janett Marie Musgrove, Feb. 24, 1954 – March 31, 2022, and P.C. Musgrove, Dec. 18, 1946 – April 7, 2022, followed each other into eternity a week apart, after being married for 38 years.

In the mid-’70s, Jan and P.C splashed into the Flathead Valley with the first wave of hippies, and met through mutual friends at the Glory Days Emporium. At the time, P.C. owned the Emporium, and Jan worked inside it at Kip’s Deli.

In 1984, P.C. and Jan were married on a cliff in Hawaii. In attendance were their three children, a witness and a pastor. Over the years, they would return to the Hawaiian Islands many times. In Hawaii, P.C. enjoyed scuba diving, and Jan played slack key guitar and enjoyed whale watching.

Back in Montana, Jan and P.C. created a beautiful homestead, aptly named “Musgrovia,” where they hosted children's birthday parties, Easter egg hunts, Fourth of July celebrations, weddings and numerous potlucks. A favorite pastime was sitting by the waterfalls in the sun, saying hello to the deer.

Both Jan and P.C. were well known for their love and sense of humor. Jan’s laughter was unforgettable. She always had a bear hug and a smile ready for you. P.C.’s sense of humor, and his ability to sound like Donald Duck, made family and friends laugh. Their constant love and support made them wonderful parents, and devoted friends.

Jan and P.C. were self-employed. Their work ethic, business sense and wit produced deep friendships with their clients. Jan owned and operated Jan-Co Accounting. She loved getting out of her office, visiting clients with a six pack of Miller Light, or taking them on Flathead Lake for a boat ride. Helping people succeed was her purpose, and she always went above and beyond what was expected.

P.C. was affectionately called, “The Landman.'' His passion for the uniqueness and beauty of the Flathead Valley led him to promote improved zoning and planning. It also led him into many terse meetings with armed citizens. He considered his efforts to support planning and zoning to be his legacy, and was saddened by the resistance that met him. Furthermore, he served as president of the Montana Realtors Association, and had a great run for Flathead County commissioner. Later he would be heard saying, "I've never been so happy to lose."

P.C. and Jan are survived by their three children, Tiffany Musgrove, and her husband, Scott Smith, of Kalispell; Josh Musgrove and his wife, Jenny, Loftus of New Orleans; and Kari Vasend and her husband, Reed Vasend, of Fosston, Minnesota. They are also survived by their two grandsons, Jude and Waylon Musgrove, of New Orleans.

Jan and P.C.'s passage to the sandy beaches of eternity will be celebrated with a potluck Saturday, June 18, at 2 p.m., at Musgrovia. Everyone who loved them is welcome. Put a flower in your hair, slip into your flip flops, and sport a Hawaiian shirt if you'd like. So many good memories and good people to share them with.

Jan’s mother, Francess May Mallet, passed away two weeks before her daughter, March 19, 2022. She will be celebrated this fall in Hygiene, Colorado.
