Pioneer League: Range Riders fall Sunday; home opener Tuesday
GREAT FALLS — The rain delay was perfectly timed, if it had been permanent.
Collin Runge’s run-scoring groundout after an hour-plus delay tied the game, and Tavis Brunson followed with an RBI single as the Great Falls Voyagers beat Glacier 5-4 in Pioneer League baseball Sunday.
The Range Riders (7-10) had scored four runs in the third inning, capped by a two-run home run from Livingston Morris, to lead 4-1. The Voyagers (13-5) closed to 4-2 on Andy Atwood’s RBI single in the third and 4-3 on Atwood’s solo homer in the fifth.
In the sixth, Tyler Krabbe and Derek Kolbush singled against Chris Allen (1-1), and were on third and second base when the skies opened up at Centene Stadium. It was possible the game would revert to the last completed inning and give Glacier a split in the six-game series.
Instead the weather cleared and Great Falls quickly got the go-ahead run home.
Ben McConnell and Gabe Howell had RBI singles for the Range Riders, who have Monday off before their home opener Tuesday at Flathead Field. First pitch against the Billings Mustangs is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
