Lilly Line Westerlund, 88

| June 19, 2022 12:00 AM

She came into the world Sept. 3, 1933, in Culbertson, Montana, and was raised in Whitefish on the family strawberry farm east of town. She married Les Westerlund of Columbia Falls and together they had four daughters, Susan, Gail, Patty and Kathy.

Lil was a homemaker and when her youngest started school she began selling Avon which she continued to do for the next 48 years.

She loved her girls, her family, the church, history, politics, Ronald Reagan, writing letters to the editor, her Avon customers and her home on O’Brien where she resided for 52 years. Between family, friends and customers, memories were made, especially those that her grand- and great-grandchildren remember her by.

Due to mobility and the onset of dementia she was moved to Brendan House in 2017 where she was cared for by the best of the best. New friends were made and her love of people continued. Dementia may have taken her memories but it allowed her God-given spirit to shine brightly. The last few years she spent every day pleasantly confused, singing with the staff, flirting with the men and bringing joy to all who passed her way.

Lilly quietly slipped away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, with family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan, her parents Ed and Sarah (Culley) Line, her husband Les (she loved him too), all her brothers and sisters and two grandbabies.

She is survived by her daughters, Gail Hinrichs, Patty Mack and Kathy (Keith) Tellegan, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

Services will be Thursday, June 23, 11 a.m. at St Charles Catholic Church in Whitefish. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. in the parish hall. Please join us.
