Shirley (Coverdell) Seanor, 82

| June 19, 2022 12:00 AM

Shirley (Coverdell) Seanor passed away on June 15, 2022, after a battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at Peninsula Memorial Chapel, 5839 Kenai Spur Hwy. in Kenai, Alaska. Viewing will be from noon to service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at the Soldotna Community Memorial Park. Pastor Frank Alioto will officiate at the service.

Shirley was born Aug. 23, 1939, in Bigfork. She married Henry Richard Arnold of Kalispell in 1957. Two daughters were born from that marriage, Terri Arnold of Aliso Viejo, California, and Lorri Maiorano, from Melrose, Florida.

In 1996 she married George R. Seanor. There were three stepchildren from this marriage, Rick Seanor and Diana, Ron Seanor and Kris, and Kathy Ruppert and Tom. There are also many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Shirley’s passion for gardening filled the yard and greenhouse with flowers and vegetables every summer. Her flowers were the envy of everyone who saw them. Every Christmas she baked hundreds of cookies that she gave to select friends and contractors that they had known throughout the years. She was called the "Best Cookie Maker in the Area" by grateful recipients. Her many talents included award-winning pine needle basketry, jade carving, painting, stained glass and needlework. She loved music and played clarinet in bands and orchestras on the Peninsula. She also played piano, organ, accordion, guitar and was learning to play the violin. It was said she had more talent in one little finger than many have in their entire bodies.

Shirley greatly enjoyed days when she and George took their boat out on the inlet and drift fished for halibut.

She was very active and would always make sure she registered 10,000 steps daily on her wrist counter. She loved all animals and her home and heart were open to numerous dogs, cats, a ferret, squirrels and rabbits over the years.

If anyone should like to donate, she recommends Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah; or Clear Creek Cat Rescue, 907-980-8898 (Contact Judy Price) or an animal welfare organization of your choice.

"Every day is a gift. Enjoy it to the fullest. It could be gone in the blink of an eye." — Shirley Seanor

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Esther Coverdell of Bigfork; and one sister, Beverly Coverdell Josephson, of Big Timber.
