A controlled power outage planned for the early morning hours of Thursday will leave thousands of Flathead Electric Cooperative customers temporarily without electricity.

Officials with the cooperative said in a press release that the outage comes at the behest of the Bonneville Power Administration. It is expected to affect about 2,900 customers from Kila and Marion out past the Happy’s Inn area of Lincoln County.

Residents in Kila and Batavia are urged to consult maps of the outage carefully to see whether or not they will be affected. Maps are available at www.flatheadelectric.com/news-release-bonneville-power-administration-power-outage-planned-for-june-23-west-of-kalispell/

The outage, scheduled from midnight to 7 a.m. on June 23, will allow Bonneville Power Administration crews to perform maintenance on equipment linking it with the cooperative.

Cooperative officials planned to call affected customers earlier this week to remind them of the upcoming outage. During the outage, customers can check flatheadelectric.com/outage for updates. They can also call 406-751-4483 with any questions.
