Law roundup: Between rocks and a hard place
A property owner in the Columbia Falls area told deputies with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that the individual who held an easement on a road running through his land lined it with rocks last year. The property owner had to remove the rocks in order to plow during the winter. Now the individual with the easement is threatening to report him for theft.
A resident of the Kalispell area asked to speak to deputies about a neighbor, who had begun posting signs regarding their shared well. One of the signs read: “Truth … Please remove your pickets off my legal easement…”
A passerby reported a camper parked in the same spot for two days. The passerby suspected the occupants were camping, which was not allowed in that area. A note was left on the vehicle.
A woman in the Whitefish area asked that deputies take a look at her car. She worried that someone had attached a tracking device to the vehicle.
Anger issues prompted a boyfriend to contact authorities. He told deputies that his significant other cannot control her temper. He wanted to know if they had any suggestions.
A Bigfork area resident contacted the Sheriff’s Office multiple times with concerns he was about to be the victim of a crime. The man told dispatchers that he spotted a suspicious car parked on a neighbor’s property. He called back later, this time thinking it might be burglars rather than kidnappers readying to strike his home.
Someone brought a woman from Ronan to the Kalispell area in a trailer for work. The problem? When they arrived, she was given a gun, told “good luck” and apparently abandoned. Unable to reach the individual who hired her, she turned to local law enforcement. The fifth wheel lacked water, food and electricity, she said, warning them that her phone battery was dying as well.
Residents of the Coram area were raising the blood pressure of a neighbor after they split a hole in the fence dividing their properties. The neighbor told deputies that the residents were encroaching on his land and using it as a shortcut. Additionally, they were parking vehicles partially on the neighbor’s property.
Someone alerted authorities to two women harassing and threatening a third over rent payments.
A semi-trailer truck left parked in the Columbia Falls area was shot through the fender well with an arrow.
Extra patrols were requested in a neighborhood near Kalispell after a resident grew concerned about the level of underage drinking and partying. The resident worried the area was fast becoming unsafe for families.
Someone reported spotting a lightning strike on a hill near Lone Lake followed by an 80-foot plume of smoke. Rainfall had steadily increased since the lightning strike, though.

A group of men driving an ATV and dirt bike on a road easement made rude gestures at a nearby resident, who phoned authorities. The resident said they spotted the off-roaders from their living room and described the easement as private property.
