Law roundup: Sprinkler incident dampens neighborly relationship

A woman called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report harassment from neighbors. She and her husband share a lawn with the neighbors. She said they turned on the sprinklers while her husband was mowing the grass.

A fight reportedly broke out between two “tweakers” driving a white vehicle with Colorado license plates and a few paving company employees. The fisticuffs began after the pair was told they could not drive through the parking lot the employees were working on. The two men reportedly exited the vehicle and physically confronted the employees who then held the men down and called the police. The duo fled before officers arrived.

Sightings of a small black bear or cub were reported around town. The bear was first reported running through a Talbot Road trailer court. A second call came in reporting a bear cub stuck in the lumber yard on Ninth Street. A third call came in about a bear cub wandering across a woman’s yard on Eighth Street West. The bear cub, which by this time a caller deemed scared, was back on Ninth Street and headed toward the school.

A sunglasses case, a torch and some kind of pipe were allegedly found by a property manager. Officers picked the items up for destruction.

A man was allegedly attempting to get his pontoon out of a creek and a vehicle was blocking an exit, so he honked at them. When they finally left, the man tried to pass them. They sped up to prevent him from getting by, running into the pontoon. The pontoon owner reportedly stopped the vehicle in Hungry Horse and confronted the driver, who seemed intoxicated, and three passengers, which led to a yelling match. Officers saw no damage other than a paint transfer.

A 3-year-old was seen running down a street and then sitting on the tailgate of a truck. The child was reunited with his mother, who had also called the police while people went looking for him.

A woman’s 10-week-old puppy was in the emergency pet hospital after reportedly being attacked by an Australian shepherd. She said the puppy's thigh was “split in half” and something was wrong with its nose.

A man called the Flathead County Sheriff's Office from Polebridge alleging that someone poured diesel into his truck, ruining it. He said it possibly happened a month ago.
