Velma Ruff-Lauman, 89
Velma Ruff-Lauman, 89, passed away peacefully June 21, 2022, in Oologah, Oklahoma.
Velma was born in Columbia Falls to Albert and Prudence Lewis, Aug. 12, 1932. She helped out on the family homestead and attended school in Badrock Canyon. Velma then married Warren Ruff on Dec. 19, 1955. They had two children Alan Ruff of Chandler, Arizona, and Connie Ruff-Beckler of Oologah, Oklahoma.
Velma was always involved with her community and children’s school activities. Velma was active in Ladies Aid, PTA, Somers Volunteer Fire Department and was a 4-H leader. Velma loved to cook including canning and baking. Velma even sold her pies to a local restaurant in Somers.
Velma married Clayton Lauman Sept. 14, 1991. They enjoyed camping and the outdoors, hunting for gemstones such as sapphires. They were active members of the Kalispell Rock Hound Club.
Velma and Clayton moved to Oologah, Oklahoma, in 2006, wanting to spend time in a warmer climate.
Velma is survived by her son Alan Ruff, his wife Lori and their two children Thomas and
Audrey, and Alan’s daughter Kristina. She is also survived by Connie Ruff-Beckler, her husband
Scott, and their two children Tyler and Shelby.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Warren and Clayton; her brothers Albert Lewis, Sam Lewis, Bob Lewis and her sister Evelyn Smithson.
Funeral services will be held at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home in Kalispell Thursday, June 30, at 2 p.m.
