Marjorie I. Fisher, 89
Marjorie I. “Marge” (Cleveland) Fisher of Whitefish, 89, died Feb. 22, 2022, at Logan Health Whitefish.
Marge was born to C. Guy Cleveland and Velma (Enfield) Cleveland on Dec. 29, 1932, at Lake Crystal, Minnesota. She attended many schools in Minnesota prior to moving to, and graduating high school, Class of 1950, at Liberty Center High School, Liberty Center, Iowa (now Southeast Warren).
Marge was an auditor and contracting officer for the U.S. Forest Service, prior to becoming a successful broker, owner and certified financial planner (CFP) with LPL, Linsco Private Ledger, with her office in Whitefish. While doing this, Marge was mayor of Whitefish and also served two terms in the Montana State Legislature as chair of the Appropriations Committee, representing Whitefish and surrounding areas.
Marge had continued to be active on numerous charitable boards and in community activities, including Flathead Economic Development Corporation, Soroptimists of Whitefish, General Federation of Women’s Clubs, Chamber of Commerce, Business & Professional Women (BPW), Big Brothers/Sisters – board member and a Big Sister, United Way, Flathead County Library trustee, North Valley Music School – board member, and Whitefish Community Library volunteer.
Marge was preceded in death by parents, Guy and Velma Cleveland, and Brother, Guy J. Cleveland.
She is survived by daughters, Virginia Goodrich and husband Rob of Driggs, Idaho, and Jennifer Hershman and husband Dan of Arlee; grandchildren, Conrad Cooper and wife Nikki, and Clair Thompson and partner Mason; great-grandchildren, Jameson Cooper and Skyler Cooper; brother, Marvin Cleveland and wife Sharon of Saint Paul, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Maxi Cleveland of New Bloomfield, Missouri; and many nephews and nieces, and many friends.
Marge was musical and played saxophone, harmonica, piano, violin, accordion and banjo. She was an author, rockhound and did genealogy. She loved to travel, going to many countries and all 50 states.
Marge loved exciting things like whitewater rafting and skydiving in her later years; she loved roller coasters and fast cars.
Family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Logan Health Whitefish for their loving care.
A small memorial service is being planned for this spring.
