Alta Fay Cameron, 84

| March 4, 2022 12:00 AM

Alta Fay Cameron, beloved mother, grandma and friend, moved on to her heavenly home on Feb. 24, 2022, at Logan Health Whitefish, surrounded by her loving family.

Alta was a lifetime native to the Flathead Valley, born Dec. 31, 1937, to Charles and Frances Hesse, which is where her great love of family began. She was raised with her brother and two sisters and had many childhood stories to tell. She went on to have three children of her own Franny, Vickie and Shane. She has five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Alta was involved in every and any way possible with her family. She was known to be the official/unofficial umpire, score keeper, trainer, coach and grandma at every sporting event she attended. Alta enjoyed being outdoors, going for car rides, fishing, hunting and camping and always found the beauty in the sky, the mountains and the great outdoors. She would often remind us that her daddy always said the Flathead Valley was going to change and so on those many drives she marveled at the changes.

Alta had a longtime career in the waitress world and could tell many stories about the restaurants and interesting people that used to be in the Flathead Valley. She also has a long run of working at Flathead High School as a hall monitor and kept a drawer full of pictures from students that considered her grandma. Never would you know a harder working lady.

Alta never met a stranger and no matter your age, older or younger, to her you were known as "sweetie." She loved being helpful. After her open heart surgery we had to repossess her snow shovel to keep her from shoveling her neighbors’ sidewalks.

Alta was preceded in death by her father, her mother, brother, sister and son-in-law.

She is survived by her daughters, Franny (Jerry) Auger and Vickie Fuselier, and son Shane (Marcy) Corpron; her sister, Etta (Dave) Wyman, two nieces, Wanda Costello and Carmen Wyman; three nephews, Corwin Wyman, Chad Wyman and Jeff Whittlake; one granddaughter, Kourtney (Jeremiah) Jack; four grandsons, Cory (Leslie) Fredericks, Drew Pidino, Derrek (Danielle) Pidino and Heath (Jade) Corpron; nine great-grandchildren, Dorien, Adrien and Beaux Fredericks, Samantha and Axel Pidino, Beau and Dax Corpron, and Kinsley and Kember Jack.

A celebration of life to be held at a warmer date.

May the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear.
