Boulder upsets Bigfork girls, 61-55

BOZEMAN — The Bigfork Valkyries fell to Boulder 61-55 on the first day of the State B basketball tournament Thursday.
Braeden Gunlock carried Bigfork with her 20 points and eight boards but Boulder's Rachel Van Blaricom matched that and a little more by scoring 35 points, including seven boards and a 10-for-10 night at the free throw line.
Van Blaricom went 12-for-16 from the field to lead Boulder to a semifinal berth.
Bigfork, the Western B divisional champion, falls to a loser out game against Columbus at 9:30 a.m. today.
Emma Berreth added 14 points and four rebounds for the Valkyries and Madison Chappius scored nine.
Boulder's Cia Stuber and Mackenzie Layng each scored seven.

BOZEMAN — Taya Trottier took over and scored 22 points as Harlem sailed to a 61-39 win over Thompson Falls on Thursday.
Emma Billmayer added 12 for Harlem, who advanced to the semifinals.
Thompson Falls’ Ellie Baxter scored 15 points and Caity Alexander added eight. The Blue Hawks face Glasgow at 10:30 a.m. in a loser out game today.
