Columbia Falls man charged in Kalispell shooting

A Columbia Falls man has been arrested in connection with an alleged shooting that injured one man in Kalispell over the weekend.

According to the Kalispell Police Department, Zackary Matthew Maas, 25, was taken into custody following a traffic stop on Monday. Maas is being held in the Flathead County Detention Center on felony charges of assault with a weapon. He was slated to make an initial court appearance Tuesday.

According to police, officers responded Sunday, March 13 at 4:30 a.m., to a report of a shooting at a home in southwest Kalispell. They found a 41-year-old man with what they believed to be a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to the hospital.

Police said the suspect had fled the scene prior to their arrival.
