​​Jennifer Kathleen Kehoe, 70

Jennifer Kathleen Kehoe died at home in Kalispell on Feb. 18, 2022, with her husband Brook DeLange at her side.

Jennifer was born in Collingswood, New Jersey, and was raised in the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey, surrounded by horse farms, and in Warren, Vermont.

She attended high school in Medford New Jersey, The Moore art school in Philadelphia and the University of Montana, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education.

It was the love of horses that drew her to an early career training thoroughbred race horses. She worked at major race tracks throughout the country.

After the death of her mother, she followed friends to Kalispell. She worked as a teacher, for the Forest Service, logging camps and outfitters as the camp cook. Her backcountry cooking skills were legendary. She also worked at Fred Meyer’s, Kalispell Junior High School and Glacier High School.

Jennifer met Brook in the mid-‘90s in the Montana backcountry working for an outfitter. She was the camp cook and Brook did a little bit of everything else. They had been together

ever since. For years they spent time attending rock ‘n’ roll concerts throughout the West. Jennifer was an ace at winning free concert tickets from local radio stations. Her knowledge of rock ‘n’ roll music was extensive. Jennifer enjoyed gardening, her cats, art and always horses, horses, horses.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Kehoe and Patricia Gallimore Kehoe.

Jennifer is survived by her brothers Pete Kehoe of the Florida Keys, and John Kehoe of Whitefish, sister Kelly Kehoe of Kalispell and niece Casey Kehoe Jones of Norfolk, Virginia.

Jennifer was quoted as saying that In her older years she wanted to be a cross between Granny Clampett and Katherine Hepburn. She was very proud of her Irish roots. She was smart and caring.

Cremation has taken place at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
