Man charged with 4th DUI after driving down bike path
A Flathead Valley man is charged with his fourth DUI after allegedly driving down a pedestrian path in Kalispell, then threatening a law enforcement officer during his arrest.
Steven Lee Myers, 30, was arrested March 18 and charged with felony DUI and felony threats. The Flathead County Detention Center roster shows he was released from custody on March 22. He is scheduled to appear in court April 14.
According to charging documents, on March 18 at about 2:15 a.m. a Montana Highway Patrol trooper saw a Chevy Suburban driving down a walking path at the intersection of Woodland Drive and U.S. 2.
The trooper pulled over Myers and allegedly noticed signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes and alcohol on his breath.
Myers allegedly told the trooper he had been drinking. A sobriety test revealed signs of impairment.
Myers was arrested after refusing a breath test. He then became upset with the trooper and threatened to physically assault him, stating that he knew where the trooper and his family lived.
While at the hospital for a blood draw, Myers allegedly said he would make it his life’s mission to physically harm the trooper, the charging document states.
Court documents show that Myers was convicted of DUIs in 2010, 2012 and 2013.
In 2018, Myers was convicted of misdemeanor partner family member assault after taking a plea deal in Flathead District Court.
