DeShazer, Thompson unbeaten at NHSCA wrestling nationals
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Local wrestlers fared well in Friday’s competition at the NHSCA High School Nationals meet, with Flathead’s Anders Thompson and Libby’s Jace DeShazer going 3-0.
Thompson picked up pins in 1 minute, 15 seconds and 3:51, then scored a 5-0 decision in the quarterfinals at Sophomore 170.
DeShazer began his day with a 4-2 decision, then got a pin in 1:22 in the round of 32 and another ipin in 4:00 in the quarterfinals. The Logger is competing at Sophomore 182.
Later Friday, Flathead’s Gabe Lake went 3-1 at Junior 160, with a loss in the round of 16. Chase Youso, another Brave Brawler, went 2-1 at Senior 182 and also last in the round of 16.
Both wrestlers compete in the wrestlebacks Saturday. Placing in the Top 8 earns them All-America status.
