Thompson, Thilmony take 4th at NHSCA Nationals
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — All but one of the Montanans left at the NHSCA Nationals wrestling meet may have lost on Sunday, but it’s still a large group of All-Americans.
Placing in the top eight guaranteed their status, including Flathead High’s Anders Thompson (Sophomore 170) and Thompson Falls’ Trae Thilmony (Senior 145), who ended up fourth in their respective weight classes.
The high-test meet saw Bozeman’s three-time champion, Avery Allen, take third at Junior 138 — the state’s highest finish.
Cut Bank’s Austin Vanek took fourth at Senior 182; Sidney’s four-time state champion, Aden Graves, was sixth at Senior 160.
Billings West’s Keyan Hernadez took eighth at Sophomore 113.
Flathead wrestlers Chase Youso (Senior 182) and Gabe Lake (Junior 160) also competed, combining for five wins. Libby’s Jace DeShazer (Sophomore 182) won three matches.
