Columbia Falls splits pair at Combo tourney

BUTTE — Abbie Darsow had three hits and drove in four runs, and Columbia Falls started off the Laverne Combo Memorial softball tournament with a 12-1 thumping of Livingston Friday.

Darsow hit a 2-run single in the first and clubbed one of three Wildkat doubles in a seven-run second inning that put Columbia Falls in command.

Pitchers Maddie Moultray and Haden Peters combined on a four-inning two-hitter. Moultray gave up one hit and three walks in three innings, and fanned six.

Columbia Falls also lost a game to Manhattan 11-5 later Friday, while Libby dropped games to Billings Central and Florence.

Ronan beat Manhattan 9-6, and Livingston beat Browning 19-0.

Polson’s games against Stevensville and Laurel had not been reported.

BUTTE — Sierra Blanchard homered and drove in three runs for Manhattan, which built an 11-0 lead and subdued the Wildkats (16-3) in three innings.

Columbia Falls was held to three hits, though one of them was a grand slam by Haden Peters. Aspen Dawson drove in the other run for the Wildkats, who dropped their second games to a Class B opponent (Florence was the other).

BC Rams 13, Libby 2

BUTTE — Ally Kowalcyk had three hits and drove in three runs and GG Hastings drove in two runs and scored four times for Billings Central, in a game that ended after four innings.

Aleesha Bradeen’s two-run single in the fourth accounted for Libby’s offense.

The Rams combined eight hits with eight walks and five errors issued by the Loggers to prevail. Six of their 13 runs were earned.

BUTTE — Kasidy Yeoman went 3-for-3 with a homer and four runs batted in, and defending State B champion Florence downed Libby at the Combo tournament.

The Falcons started off with a two-homer from Jaidyn Larson in the first and never really looked back. Larson had three hits and three RBIs as well.

Libby (9-9) scored on a Kinzee Boehmier two-run homer in the second inning and Courtney Benson’s solo shot in the third.
