WHITEFISH — The Whitefish tennis teams wrapped up Northwest A conference play with dual wins over Polson and Ronan on Friday.

The Lady Bulldogs beat Polson 4-3 and Ronan 6-1, and the boys won 5-2 against Polson and 6-1 against Ronan.

Joe Brandt at No. 1 singles and Highland Lee-French and Mason Kelch at No. 1 doubles earned wins against Polson netters, who boys coach Chris Schwaderer said played tough.

“It was a good way to close out our Northwest A schedule,” Schwaderer said. “Polson is a tough team that presents some difficult matchups for us, but today we looked solid. They all played exceptionally well. Still, I like to remind the guys that this is only the regular season. Next week is when everything truly matters, and everyone has to show up.”

Lee-French and Brandt teamed up for a doubles win against Ronan, and Kelch won in the No. 1 singles spot.

Polson doubles pair Colter Wilson and Tate Barentsen defeated Whitefish’s Fin Stagg and Jesse Burrough in a tight two-set match, 6-4, 7-5. Noah Trosper won a singles match over Whitefish’s Neil Bernat.

Ronan’s Dillon PrettyOnTop prevailed in two sets over Austin Gunset at No. 2 singles.

Polson proved to be an equally tough matchup for the Whitefish girls, with Clara Todd, Summer Newman and Hope Morrison earning singles wins. Morrison’s match with Sophie Olson proved especially tough – it went to three sets and had multiple tiebreakers.

Lauren Brown, Whitefish’s No. 2 girls singles player, won two matches, as did doubles pair Tallory Workman and Emma Trieweiler.

Ronan pair Aaliyah Decker and Alyssa Pretty On Top defeated Ashley Gunset/Elliette Haigh 6-2, 6-2 in No. 1 doubles.

Next week brings Northwest A divisional tennis in Ronan from May 20-21.
