Gregory “Greg” Walter Macijunas passed away in his home on April 25, 2022, at the age of 60.

Greg was born May 28, 1961, to parents Zel and Bernadette Macijunas in Cook County, Illinois. One of four children, Greg developed a love of sports, a passion he carried with him throughout his life.

While attending St. Rita High School, Greg had the opportunity to play football at Soldier Field and his team won the high school state championship game. Greg was known for his dedication and heart, on and off the field, earning him the nickname "Lion Heart." He continued to play football while attending North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.

Greg then began his career as an ironworker in the Chicago area, where he met his first wife, Angela (Tedesco). They married in 1983 and shared two sons, Gregory and Michael. Greg was an incredible father, sharing his kindheartedness and love of sports with his children as they grew.

Helping others was what Greg did best. From coaching his sons’ sports teams to mission trips to Guatemala, he wanted to do what he could to make the world a little brighter.

In 2001, the family relocated to the Flathead Valley, where Greg continued to coach his sons in sports and lend a helping hand to those around him.

Greg remarried in 2009 to Jennifer (Stoltz), with whom he spent the remainder of his days. His kindness and warmth helped him excel in customer service and allowed him to make many connections and friendships throughout the valley.

Greg was known for his thoughtfulness, optimism and big heart and was always the first to volunteer to help those around him. He will be deeply missed.

Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Bernadette.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer and her children, his sons Gregory and Michael and their families, his father Zel, and his siblings Tim, Celeste and Cindy and their families.

A celebration of life will be held on May 19 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn (1840 Hwy. 93 S., Kalispell).
