LIBBY — Hayden Meehan threw some sterling relief, then added an RBI single in the eighth inning as the Glacier Twins pulled away to beat Libby 9-2 in Class A Legion baseball Thursday.

Glacier (6-1) scored two runs on wild pitches in the first, and those runs might have held up — but the Twins broke the game open after Libby starter Caden Williams exited the game after six innings. Williams allowed three hits and two walks, and struck out nine.

Up 2-1, Jake McIntyre sparked the Twins’ three-run eighth with an RBI double. Five walks — one intentional — and two Libby errors led to four ninth-inning runs.

Libby (1-6) got on the board when Rusty Gillespie drew a bases loaded walk from Glacier starter Talon Murphy. Meehan came in and retired the next three batters in order; in 5 2-3 innings allowed four hits and three walks, with five strikeouts.

Meehan gave up Tripp Zhang’s home run in the ninth, and Mason Peters came in to record the final out.
