Strong first day for Flathead, Glacier at divisional

GREAT FALLS — Two Bravettes advanced to the second round of singles matches at the Northern AA divisional Thursday at Great Falls High.

Alexis Kersten and Patricia Hinchey were the Flathead entrants that advanced past the first round, including doubles pair Clara Jones/Kathryn Butson.

All four Glacier doubles teams also advanced Thursday: Haven Speer/Sarah Downs, Katy Bitney/Colette Daniels, Maddie Davis/Claire Ennis and Elise Strobel/Kendall Van Aken.

Kersten is set to face Kiera Richards of CMR when matches resume today, and Hinchey drew Lia Steulpner, also of CMR, in the second round.

Speer and Downs will Flathead’s Jones and Butson in the second round, and Bitney and Daniels have CMR’s Mackenzie Tuss/Parker Humble.

Flathead’s Kutuk White topped Glacier’s Kyler Knutson in the first round of boys singles, and will play CMR’s Carson Rich in the next round.

Harrison Sanders and Will Rudbach, both from Glacier, also advanced. CMR’s Kade Haverlandt is Sanders’ next opponent, and Rudbach will play Clay Walker, also of CMR.

In boys doubles, three Glacier pairs advanced: Trey Engellant/Ethan Woods, Alex Galloway/Timmy Glanville and Rhett Measure/Daylin Mathison.

Team scores were not available at press time.

Matches resume today at 9 a.m.
