HAMILTON — The Whitefish girls created some space Saturday, riding two wins from Brooke Zetooney and another from Erin Wilde to take the Western A Divisional track and field title.

Zetooney won the 200 meters in a season-best 26.21 seconds and took the 100 in 12.77, and Wilde won the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 4 inches. Wilde also won the long jump Friday.

Add in plenty of depth points and the Bulldogs finished with 122 points, to 96 for Corvallis and 86 for Dillon.

First-day leader Columbia Falls — with Siri Erickson completing a distance sweep — was fourth with 75.

Erickson’s time in the 800, 2:24.08, was a personal best; she then won the 3,200 in 11:59.72, after cleaning up in the 1,600 on Friday.

Whitefish’s Isabelle Cooke was second in the 800; Hailey Ells, who won the 400 on Friday, picked up a third in the high jump, a fourth in the 100 and was second in the 200.

Rachael Wilmot, Cooke, Maeve Ingelfinger and Zetooney teamed up to win the long relay for the Bulldogs as well.

A fast track got faster Saturday: Ainslee Shipman of Dillon again had a time of 14 seconds flat in the 100-meter hurdles, this time in the finals. It was hand-timed, Hamilton activities director Travis Blome said; but adding an adjustment of .24 would still leave Shipman well below the record 14.51 Paige Squire ran for Corvallis in 2011.

More records fell on the boys side, where Hamilton outlasted Dillon and its five individual wins from Treyton Anderson.

After winning the 400 and the 300 hurdles Friday, Anderson swept the 100 and 200 and 110-meter hurdles Saturday. He set meet marks in the 200 and the hurdles.

Dillon scored 105.75 points, but Hamilton — with Colter Kirkland winning the 800 in a meet-record 1:55.56 — had 118.5.

The previous 800 record was 1:55.65 by Columbia Falls’ Derrick Williams.

Whitefish was fourth with 62 points, getting wins from Talon Holmquist in the shot put Friday and Gabe Menicke in the triple jump Saturday.

Holmquist overthrew the 46-year-old meet record in the shot of 56-1.5, by Ronan’s Jim Darlington. His mark was 56-10.5, which is a big jump from his previous PR of 53-8 and won him his duel with Hamilton’s Andrew Burrows, who threw 55-0.

Menicke’s winning triple jump was 44-4.25.

Columbia Falls had 32 points, good for sixth. The Wildcats’ Malaki Simpson was second in the 200 and third in the 100 Saturday.
