Michael Henry Perzan

| May 29, 2022 12:00 AM

Michael Henry Perzan passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his house on April 24, 2022.

He was born in Meriden, Connecticut, lived in New Britain, Connecticut, and moved to Montana in 1978. When back East he always introduced himself as “Mike from Montana”; he adopted the Big Sky country as his own. He resided in Kila and, most recently, in Columbia Falls.

Michael attended Goodwin Technical School in New Britain where he studied culinary arts and then honed his skills under various master chefs. He was head chef and partner of First Avenue in Kalispell in the 1980s and 1990s; worked at various other restaurants and was involved in the Doug Betters annual charity event.

Michael loved many things in life; family, friends, pets, nature, birds, hiking Glacier Park, gardening and photography. In past years he also enjoyed soccer, climbing the Northern with friends and, of course, always music, playing the guitar and piano. Michael marveled at the setting sun, birds in the trees, flowers in the garden, and being with the many people he loved.

Michael will be greatly missed by his beloved son Gaven Meyer, and his faithful dog Henry; his siblings, David Perzan and partner Laura, Denise Kominas and husband John, Mary Owens and husband Gary, and Laura Perzan; his niece, three nephews and their families; his aunt, Anne Nowakowski; and many cousins and extended relations.

He was predeceased by his parents, Henry J. and Genevieve T. (Nowakowski) Perzan; and a beloved niece, Sheri Ann Kominas.

A celebration of Life is being planned for a later date this summer.
