Law roundup: Somers Fire Department responds to hay fire

Somers Fire Department responded to a fire on Lower Valley Road at 11:46 a.m. Saturday.

Approximately 30 tons of hay and a pole barn burned in the fire, according to Somers Assistant Fire Chief Robert Kienas. Firefighters cleared the scene around 8:30 p.m.

“It was a long, drawn-out day due to having to rip out all the hay to put the fire out,” Kienas said.

South Kalispell and Bigfork fire departments assisted in extinguishing the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Women were reportedly threatening to beat up another woman over who was first in line to panhandle at a location. The Kalispell Police Department told them to move along because of their disorderly behavior.

Two customers were heard arguing over a parking spot and a woman in a light blue minivan threatened to have her husband shoot the other person.

A woman allegedly called 911 to advise officers “to keep the homeless out of her business,” and hung up. The phone number plotted near Depot Park.

A woman reportedly called 911 wanting officers to tell a certain organization to “stay out of her life.” She also yelled about dispatchers staying out of her life and hung up. Dispatch called her back to confirm that she didn’t need law enforcement, the fire department, or medical assistance, to which, she yelled about 911 blocking her mother’s phone number and hung up. On another callback, it was determined she was fine and Kalispell Police Department re-advised her on the proper use of 911.

A woman who reportedly wanted to bail a man out of jail called wanting to know if she was allowed to be on the property out of concern she would be considered trespassing.

Someone stepped outside to take a look after receiving second-hand information that a man with a gray beard was allegedly standing outside the door screaming and offering to sell “bum dope.” Officers moved the man along.

A man was reportedly found sleeping in a restroom despite being told not to and someone wanted him moved along. He reportedly was a known offender for assault, drugs and trespassing.

A 2016 rusty red Ford Escape was reported stolen.

A black 1989 Nissan pickup with a taped window, spray-painted tires and a toolbox in the back, was reported stolen.

A pair of prescription sunglasses and a wallet were reported stolen from a vehicle by someone who allegedly left evidence behind.

A man allegedly called to say the warming shelter was “worse than Milk Duds,” and couldn’t stay there because he had a medical condition. He may have asked other questions because he was advised that he had to go through the application process if he wanted to be a police officer.
