First Friday reception for David and Bobbie Hafer

| November 3, 2022 12:00 AM

Phillips Studio & Gallery is hosting an opening reception for David and Bobbie Hafer’s “Fresh Oil” exhibit from 5 to 7 p.m. on First Friday, Nov. 4. At 5:30 p.m. the Hafers will give an informal Artist Talk about their inspiration for some of the works on display and answering any questions guests may have.

All works sold will be allowed to leave the exhibit early on the following day, Saturday, Nov. 5.

David Hafer has created a new painting for use as the image on their annual Christmas card. The gallery will have a limited amount of these Christmas cards available for purchase.

This exhibition explores the Hafers’ lifelong fascination with the spectacular beauty of the Montana landscape, with Glacier Park, Flathead Lake and surrounding areas that keep them inspired.

The Hafers started painting full time together in retirement after spending their working years admiring the works of other artists. It has been a journey that has captured their hearts and they enjoy painting together every day. They both have painted realistic and iconic landscapes in oil. In addition, Bobbie has some still life and florals in this exhibit as well.

“Painting places me more intensely into appreciation of God’s creation as I try to capture what I now see with fresh eyes,” David Hafer said.

They both try to make the viewer imagine themselves in the environment of their paintings — breathing the air, observing nature, and marveling at all the beauty.

Phillips Studio & Gallery is located in the Kalispell Center Mall. The “Fresh Oil” exhibit will remain on view through Nov. 27. The Gallery’s holiday hours through Christmas are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
